I am a real person doing real work in my community. I have been a longtime volunteer in my own community and have supported other communities as well. For the past six years, I have served as a PTO president and parent advocate in the western suburbs of Chicago.
THE PTO COLLECTIVE grew from that experience. When parental engagement was lacking, a group of women in our community came together to build and strengthen our local PTO/PTA. Together, we became a voice that was needed and a bridge connecting families, schools, and communities.
That commitment laid the foundation for THE PTO COLLECTIVE, an ongoing effort since 2021. We empower parent volunteers and bring school and community stakeholders together through practical, real-time support.
That is why we say “Beyond Bake Sales.”
Our work means advocating for children, supporting teachers, helping parents understand their options, and making sure families have a voice in decisions that affect them. It means showing up consistently, building relationships, and following through.
Our work is rooted in learned and lived experiences. We equip parents with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to advocate for their children and represent their communities’ needs. By supporting one another, we turn shared concerns into meaningful action.
